I Know I’m Not The Only One… Leave The Classics Alone!
It all begins with an idea.
Leave the Classics ALONE! (Seriously, STOP.)
As a true music lover, there’s nothing I enjoy more than discovering new talent and fresh sounds. New beats? Love it. New flows? I’m here for it. BUT — and this is a big but — there’s one thing that drives me absolutely crazy: when artists ruin classic songs.
Look, some songs are sacred. They are timeless. They are untouchable. And yet… here we are. Every few months, somebody thinks it’s a good idea to remix or sample a classic, and 9 times out of 10, it ends up being a straight-up hot mess .
Case in point: BIG GLO recently sampled Keyshia Cole’s “Love” — and y’all, it’s giving no love at all . That song is pure, emotional gold. I don’t care if you’re 20, 30, or pushing 50 — when Love comes on, you FEEL it. So who thought it would be cute to mess with it? I’ll wait…
And listen, I try to be fair. I really do. I was ready to let it slide… until Monaleo came through and sampled Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature.” Now, in my best MJ voice, I have to ask: “Whyyyy, whyyyyy??”
Bless their hearts for trying, but not every song needs a trap beat and a TikTok dance challenge . Some classics need to be left exactly where they are — at the top of the throne, untouched and respected .
I know there are more examples out there (and probably worse ones too), but I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. Right??

Have you heard the new songs from Glo or Monaleo?
Did you vibe with them or were they big ol’ flops?
Should new artists stop playing in our faces and just make their own magic?
